In addition to being one of the partner/owners of Mix One Studios, Chris has been known to wield a pretty mean hammer, applying some of the woodworking skills he acquired in high school and college to make the studio environs a better place for staff and clients alike. A sound designer and recording engineer for nearly 20 years, Chris is also an Adjunct Professor at Boston University’s School of Communication, an alumnus of and former professor at Berklee College of Music, an accomplished former bartender, and a mail-order minister.
The listening skills Chris has developed over the years as bartender and recording engineer serve him well as one of the area’s preeminent audio post-production mixers. His client list is as diverse as it gets, and includes record labels such as Rounder Records and Rykodisc; agencies and production houses such as Viewpoint Creative, Partners + simons, Arnold Worldwide, Smash Advertising, Picture Park, Gearon Hoffman; and local and national ad clients, including Hasbro, Nintendo, Kitchen Etc., Blue Cross Blue Shield and Boston Acoustics. He also does a lot of programming and television work, including the Frontline series on PBS and Bob Vila’s nationally-syndicated Home Again television series; as well as a host of broadcast promotion work for HBO, Discovery Channel, The History Channel, Court TV, Showtime, Cinemax and ESPN.
When he’s not working, Chris can often be found applying those carpentry skills and renovating houses (sometimes not even his own), spending as much time as possible outdoors, hiking, biking, skiing, boating and camping with his two boys, and trying to recapture the guitar chops he somehow misplaced over the years.
